IntellAgent Control Corporation Announces a Ground-Breaking Component-Based Business Solution

IntellAgent Control Corporation Extends Its
Best-Selling Lotus Notes Application to Run Natively on the Web

ORLANDO, Jan. 27, 1997 - IntellAgent Control Corporation (ICC) today previewed a new product architecture that extends the IntellAgent Control System beyond the Lotus Notes platform. Currently IntellAgent Control 4.5, the latest version of the popular relationship management solution, runs on Lotus Notes and Domino 4.5. At Lotusphere, ICC demonstrated "Independence," a new component-based technology that extends the power of IntellAgent Control to other users who donÆt have Lotus Notes but do have a Web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer. Independence represents a move from monolithic products to modular components that can be integrated in various ways to help organizations acquire, retain, and increase the value of relationships a corporation builds with its customers and allies.

IntellAgent Control Leverages the Lotus Domino Server
ICCÆs IntellAgent Control and Independence leverage the power of the Lotus Domino 4.5 Server, an applications and messaging server with an integrated set of services that make possible a broad range of secure, interactive business solutions for the Internet and intranets. Howard M. Getson, president and CEO of ICC, explained, "As corporate data became more accessible through client/server applications and the Internet, the need for a new class of strategic applications emerged. Corporations can satisfy this need quickly and effectively using a modular, platform-independent technology like Independence."
Not only does Independence work with Lotus Notes and the Domino Server 4.5, it extends the business solution to web browsers or traditional client/server applications.

ICCÆs Independence Answers the Need for Groupware on the Web
"As operating systems and technologies evolve, clients place more emphasis upon Internet connectivity and industry-standard, component-based architecture," said Getson. "They want to extend applications using Java, BorlandÆs Delphi, MicrosoftÆs J++, Visual Basic, or other standard development tools. In addition, we found clients want to access applications using their web browser, while still maintaining the security and scalability required of mission-critical business solutions." ICCÆs Independence delivers all of these benefits and more.
Clients have looked to IntellAgent Control for solutions ranging from Contact Management and Sales Force Automation to Customer Asset Management and other collaborative business-to-business applications. ICCÆs products, with Independence as their foundation, will target these same business challenges, logical business processes, and will provide the same benefits that are currently available only in ICCÆs IntellAgent Control 4.5. Companies using the industry-standard, component-based architecture of Independence can easily customize the solution using existing IT staff and standard development tools. In addition, companies can update Independence-based components without affecting extensions or modifications the company has already made. Another benefit to using the Independence technology includes the ability to access disparate data sources while providing a consistent look to the end user. Finally, Independence enables an organization to maintain security, scalability, and data integrity across all of the companyÆs information assets.
According to Hugh Bishop, vice-president of Emerging Technologies Research of Aberdeen Group, "Aberdeen believes that IndependenceÆs flexible architecture will be quite attractive to IS executives responsible for technical signoff ù and for making sure that existing technology investments are leveraged ù in the purchasing process."
Independence will be available in the second quarter of 1997.
